The ideal event to meet face-to-face with some of America’s top engravers and custom gunmakers is coming up fast.

The 2012 Firearms Engravers & Gunmakers Exhibition, a joint effort by the American Custom Gunmakers Guild (http://www.ACGG.org) and the Firearms Engravers Guild of America (http://www.FEGA.com), is scheduled at John Ascuaga’s Nugget in Reno/Sparks, NV, on Jan. 20-22.

The exhibition’s theme for 2012 is “Reward Yourself: Isn’t It time for a Custom Gun?”

In addition to displays by ACGG and FEGA members, the three-day event also features select exhibitors from members of The American Bladesmith Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to education and the revival of the art and craft of the forged blade, and the Knifemakers Guild, a non-profit organization that promotes custom knives and knifemakers.

For a list of exhibitors, visit http://www.ACGG.org/events/2012-exhibitors.

Exhibition dates are concurrent with the Wild Sheep Foundation’s “Sheep Show,” the largest mountain hunting convention under one roof. Attendees to the Firearms Engravers & Gunmakers Exhibition will receive discounted admission to the “Sheep Show.”

Admission cost for the exhibition is $ 20 per person per day and is paid at the entrance. Hours are noon to 9 p.m., Friday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Free seminars will be offered on Monday, Jan. 23, the day following the exhibition.

The free Monday seminar offered by ACGG takes place 9 a.m. to noon. It is titled “Accuracy Principles and Application to the Modern Sporting Rifle” by Speedy Gonzalez.

FEGA offers the following free seminars on Monday, Jan. 23: “Flush Gold Inlay” by Bob Evans; “Movement in Design” by Lee Griffiths; and, “Basic Metal Carving” by Andrew Biggs.

On Saturday evening, a Banquet, Awards and Auctions event is scheduled. The deadline to reserve banquet tickets is Jan. 10. Tickets are $ 47 per person.

“Enjoy a fun social evening and get acquainted with Guild members,” said Jan Billeb, who has coordinated the exhibition since 1985. “Tickets include a drink during the cocktail hour and a wonderful Nugget dinner.”

To reserve banquet tickets, contact Patti Murry, Exhibition, 307 Division St, Northfield, MN 55057, via phone at (507) 645-8811 or you can print out a form on the Guilds’ websites: http://www.ACGG.org and http://www.FEGA.com.

Great post! I?m just starting out in community management/marketing media and trying to learn how to do it well – resources like this article are incredibly helpful. As our company is based in the US, it?s all a bit new to us. The example above is something that I worry about as well, how to show your own genuine enthusiasm and share the fact that your product is useful in that case
